That explosive diarrhea is the same symptom I had when first taking Glucophage. The doc told me to start with a quarter tab (I'm on the 850 mg 2x daily) for a few days then increase to a half and so on. Even when I did that, I still had the "gotta go right now syndrome." The side effect decreased (I've been on it about 40 days now) but I still get diarrhea for unpredictable reasons, such as eating brussels sprouts or salad. I did get my period exactly 28 days after I started taking Metformin. I hadn't had it since January.
