Katie, I'm a medical student in SF with PCOS and recently finished my rotation in OB/Gyn. I met a fabulous and sensitive doctor, Robert Nachtigall, specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. I believe he is in San Francisco, ?perhaps in private practice. He taught us about PCOS and it would be worthwhile to get his opinion. Good luck, V.F.

P.S. Definetely don't give up finding out what's best for your health. The female reproductive system is incredibly complex and perhaps that has contributed to the difficulties in our understanding. A lot more research needs to be done, but there are physicians out there who are willing to spend the extra time learning about the most recent developments. Try the OB/Gyn department at UCSF - usually academic centers have MDs who try to stay as up to date as possible.
