DOCTORS COMMENTS FOR PROFUSE SWEATING OF PCOSers? From: Sari (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Aug 2000 00:57:22 -0500 (CDT)
Has anybody had any answers from professional sources (such as doctors!) regarding the sweating problem that many of us PCOS women have? I’ve read dozens of posts making claim to this sweating problem. Many women have indicated that they were going to take the issue up with their physicians. But, I’ve been unsuccessful in locating any of the posts after women have taken issue with doctors. I live in Kansas, and we’ve undoubtedly had sweltering temps this month (today was 106 + dreadful humidity!). But this sweating thing is so embarrassing. I’m 44 and people are staring at me like I’m having cardiac arrest, or menopausal “hot flashes”; one person even suggested that I needed to see my internist regarding this because it necessitated immediate medical intervention due to the fact that it was the result of very high blood pressure and overweight problems. (I’m 5’8” and weigh 170 lbs.; weight is an issue with me; but I didn’t think it warranted a comment as such! Some people can be so insensitive!!) Any feedback or comments on this would be most enlightening. My face has “dripped” profusely today, both inside and outdoors. It doesn’t seem to make any difference. In fact, since May, I have been taking Metformin & Spironolactone; this “sweating” situation is even worse than ever now. It happened today while standing in the cashier line at Wal-Mart. Everybody kept staring at me as though I might drop dead any moment! And the women starring the most weighed at least 150 lbs. more than I do; so embarrassing! Any insight would be most enlightening! Thanks. Sari
