Re: Met v. BCP

You may be, though, the type that needs to be on both, not just for birth control. I went off bcps and met 3 years ago to do a Rezulin study. The met and bcp combo worked well for me (dropped 20 lbs with no problem). The Rez, though, didn't work for me. I was on it for a year. As soon as I was done with the study, I went back on bcps and the Met. BOOM! Dropped 30 lbs, no trying (and have maintained for over a year). My doc and I believe that for me,and some women on this board who have done the same thing, that the bcps must "knock down" the high testosterone level before the met can kick in and be effective. Who knows. But I look at it this way - the pill, and met too, is one of the safest drugs out there. Decreases chances of ovarian and cervical cancer, etc. Why NOT take it, even if it might help only a little bit? Plus, the convenience of knowing when you're going to cycle.

|And, I take 9 weeks of bcps, then the withdrawal week. Working well,
so far! You might try that, too (saves the body 2 weeks of hormones going out of whack).

As I said the information in the archives of this forum might be able to give you what you are looking for.
