Hi Kris -- I only get a Pap once a year. I've never heard that you need them more frequently if you've got PCOS, though I've noticed hte posts about Pap changes with it. I wonder whether there's any protocol or guidelines for how often to do them with PCOS patients. While you've got time to do research, you might want to check into this. Every 3 mos sounds like a lot to me. Do you have to pay for it privately? I hope your doctor's not just finding a way to bill you or an insurer for unnecessary care. Anyway, see if there are any guideliens for Paps with PCOS patients. I know that with a history of papilloma virus, you're supposed to get one every 6 mos., and papilloma puts you at considerably increased risk for cervical cancer. But I thought PCOS mostly affected your risk of endometrial cancer, and I'm not sure a Pap would pick that up. Again, though, I don't really know. Your BF sounds like a sweetie. I think it takes years to get through things like school when you've dealt with an early life marred by illness and probably a lot of emotional consequences. I dropped out of school after grade 10, went back a few years later, dropped out in teh middle of my Bachelors (in English and Fien Arts), went back, graduated and worked, went back for another degree (BSc in physical therapy), worked some more years, and am now back again. Someone once said to me there are two kinds of people in the world: the highway people, who just pick their destination and go for it; and the backroads people, who meander along the way. I'm in the latter category, where I consider myself in good company (even if I get down on myself about it sometimes). You'll do what's right for yourself, I'm sure. And sure I know where Florida is. Every eastern Canuck does, since we're bedazzled with posters of it and tempted by cheap flights to it all winter long, while we slog through snow, slush and howling icy winds. (Actually, I love winter.) I've been down there a few times, and my brother, who now lives in Atlanta, lived for years in Moultrie GA, which is just about 60 miles north of Tallahassee. I think Florida's a pretty neat state, having travelled around both coasts and a bit through the middle. (Loved the brahmin cattle ranches) Take care -- Alina
