Re: TELL ME MORE ABOUT LASER TREATMENTSFrom: kb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 13 Aug 2000 12:24:38 -0500 (CDT)
I wrote about the laser and like you also had a go at electrolisys. Big difference! The electrolisys made my chin break out in huge cysts. Any acne bacteria was just being spread from pore to pore by the needle. I had a few friends without pcos expierence this also so i know this acne was not related to the pcos. the healing process took a long time and then the next treatment would leave me inflamed all over again. the pain was bearable but my face was such a mess only on my chin so it was nearly impossible for me to seen. it also left my face pitted. four months of this was enough for me to decide never again to go ths way again. i switched to laser treatments. my dermatoligist uses the candell gentle-lase. I t works very well on me because i have very fair skin and the hair on my chin was black and course. First you have to get hormonal balance from the inside for any hair method to be effective. the laser for me has been more effective than anything else. first i went once a month for abot 3mo. then i went every 6 weeks for a while, then once every 3 mo. so far in one year, i have had about 7 treatments. its only a split second of discomfort, youdon't have to let the hair grow out. you save before you get it done. i am so fair that i can have it done right through my make-up. i get no irritation at all. my face actually clears up because there are so may hairs destroyed that there are less ingrowns. each time you go you have less growth because you can catch the over-lap of hair growth cycles. for me it has even been effective on the dark blond hair because i am so fair. i do tweeze about once a week half a dozen white hairs but that is because they are course. i don't shave any more so my chin is covered with that very very fine hair like everyone has instead of that shiny look from shaving.the pitting and scars are filling in and for the first time in years, the skin on my chin is blending with the rest of my face and looking normal. so for 125.00 each time i go, times the seven treatments i've had = around a 1,000. for the year out of my pocket.pretty small price for my sanity . i'm due for another treatment soon and this is not permanent but my husband thinks no matter what the cost, that its worth it to have me feel so good about my self again. i did try it on my legs and it worked well but over an area that large, it was 800.00 dollars for the first treatment. if i had to do that seven times a year for the rest of my life, i'd go bankruped and have to live in a tent and eat cat food. so I'll put my money where my face is and wear my jeans in the summer. i know this is long but i have been so happy with this method. i still have to take met 1500mg and proscar 5mg but this laser has been a real answer to my prayers. it works for me and i think it is worth looking into. hope this can help any one who is courious about hearing a success story on lasers. it's not a magic cure and maybe not for everyone but it has gotten me to a place of management. dont shave any more, my chin is no longer shiny. it is covered with that very very fine facial haie that every one has. wrote: > >Please do tell me more about laser treatments.
