wrote about being on proscar. about the costs my insurance does make a % of the payment but I do put out of pocket 40.00 not covered a month. my met (i've been on that for about 6mo now)is also partly covered under my drug plan but ihave to pay 50.00 out of pocket a month. addto that my laser treatments (which i think are a bargin and the best money i've ever spent) 125.00 every 3mo out of pocket and all the herbs and vitimins monthly, and you come up to a pretty exspensive maintinance plan. thank goodness i have an insurance plan that i make a co-pay of only 10.00 a visit for the endo, gyno, and internist every 6mo and my blood work every 3 mo is also a 10.00 co-pay. i also have to factor in the price of the pro active skin care at 43.00 every 2 mo but again this is so so worth it. the dermatoligist is 10.00 a visit for any acne but the laser is not covered at all but the doctor is a laser specialist. For 125.00 you get 50 zaps. that is more than enough to do my entire chin, neck, upper lip.if i need less than that at that visit i use the extra zaps some where else like maybe my knuckles or on my arms .if i feel like having more zaps when i go than it's 125.00 for the first 50 zaps and only 25 cents for every zap there after. so for a couple of extra dollars i can be pretty hair free for weeks on end. if you would like to know more about my expierences i will post again. for the person who wrote that doctors should let us make our own decisions concerning what drugs we should be allowed to take, proscar is not to be taken lightly. no doctor wants to be held liable . should a pregnancy occur, the fetus can have major deformities to his sex organs. my doctor made it clear what my option would be if i was to become pregnant while on this drug. it is a very difficult subject to discuss when your option would be to terminate the pregnancy. this has to be something you are comfortable with before taking this drug and clearly understand. my best advice would be to say that this drug in what ever dosage is an option but something that you and your doctor must consider with caution.it is not the first drug of choice and is not for everyone.each case is different. hope this helps.
