Yes, I have noticed this as well. I started Met 2 weeks ago and am currently taking 500mg 2x/day. I find myself carrying a bottle of water around with me CONTSTANTLY....taking a mouthfull every 5-10 minutes or so. I have been blessed by only very minor "back door trots" as my Dad used to call them (an old phrase from the country out-house days when you had to run out the back door to use the bathroom....not the meaning that someone may think it implies, teehee), so I do not believe this is a result of dehydration. One of the side effects listed is a metallic taste in your mouth. I wouldn't necessarily call it "metallic", but I do get a strange taste in my mouth if I don't drink every few minutes.
