Hi Susan, My doctor started me on 50 mg/day, too, however, they upped it a month later when no noticeable decrease in hair or blood pressure had occurred... Now I am taking 50 mg/3 times per day, my bp has dropped to near normal and my hair growth has slowed significantly. Everyone is different, though... Some people get results on low dosages, others (like me) need lots more... I know that my androgen counts were fairly high, so that may have something to do with it, overall...... Good luck to you and just remember to drink LOTS and LOTS of water!
