I have been on a low carb diet for about 5 weeks and have lost 20 pounds. There's a wide variety of plans to follow, Atkins, The Zone, Protein Power, and Carbohydrate addicts. I personally follow one that was designed to help with Fibromyalgia patients and I like it best. If you would like more info on it, email me at wphoffman@juno.com and I'll email you a copy. It's about 5 pages I think. It's no gram counting at all which makes it a lot easier for me.
