Re: Avandia and Weight GainFrom: Amber (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Jul 2000 08:22:57 -0400
All these negative comments on Avandia are really starting to scare me. . . . I took Metformin for approximately four months just hoping that my body would eventually get used to it. I started out the first two weeks w/ 500mg then moved to 1000mg/day then 1500 then up to 2000mg/day. I was running to the bathroom constantly. I wasn't losing any weight but I did have a normal period for the first three months. Pretty much on time also. I don't know if I was ovulating though because I didn't test that. I just wanted to get my body used to the med before trying to conceive. I did take clomid for the fourth month but didn't get a period of course. Has anyone else had this problem? I finally went back to the gyn because since I am not taking any meds right now, I haven't had af for two months now and wanted to try the Avandia instead. Unfortunately I have to wait for a referral to go to a fertility specialist to go on the Avandia. So it could be a couple more weeks before I actually get in. We have decided to wait until the beginning of the year now to try and conceive so hopefully my body will again be used to the new med if the doc even puts me on it. Is it just me or has everyone who has tried the Avandia had bad luck w/ it? I definitely don't want to take it if I am going to gain more weight again. I am already @ least 50lbs. over weight. . . . amber
