I was diagnosed with pcos @8 years ago. The treatment then was birth control pills. I have read recently how insulin is involved now and how a new drug called glucophage is being used to treat pcos. I went to my gynocologist and he only wants to give me provera to make me have periods. Is this the proper treatment for pcos? I am also weigh 300lbs and am looking to lose weight. I have tried many diets with minimal results. AM I a candidate for glucophage? I cant seem to find any doctor willing to give it to me and I cannot get my primary doctor to give me a referral to a specialist. I am getting very frusrated. Any advice?

thanks, shanda
