Re: New to all this. Is Metformin safe?

Hi,

I think my experience with metformin/glucophage is different from any I have read here.

I first started taking it about a year ago and had such trouble with my stomach that I quit after about a week. I then restarted on 4/27/00 and have very S L O W L Y increased my dosage. I am just now on 1500 and will not increase to 2000 for another week or two. I am faithful to take it with a meal, and so far have had only a couple of bouts of running to the bathroom.

As far as I am concerned, it has been completely safe for me. When I started the 1500 mg I have noticed that my appetite has lessened. I am not eating the same portions that I was previously. I am hoping that this feeling of not being hungry increases as I continue to increase my dosage to 2500.

I am also taking Ortho Cyclen 28 (bcp) and I am wondering if anyone knows what the best bcp is to take with the glucophage? Also, I am taking meds for depression and such and I am wondering about the side effects from the spirolectene (sp). I have very hair arms and facial hair. One more question before I go. I had heard that there was going to be a prescription hair remover on the market this fall.... and that it was supposed to be very good. Does anyone have any info on this?

Sorry for rambling on, but I am just trying to understand all of this.

Thanks!!!
