Re: Avandia Instead of Met?From: Tracy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 14 Jul 2000 04:04:18 -0500 (CDT)
But I >don't want to spend every day sick as a dog, or looking for a bathroom >every time I leave the house. Let me know if there are any Avandia >success stories. I am going off metformin too. After a year and a half on the stuff it is making me so sick with severe gastric distress that I have been taken to the ER twice to get IV's because the diarrhea and vomiting dehydrated me! Even a dose as low as 500 mg. causes me to have cramps that will double you over and repeated bouts of painful diarrhea. There is no way in the world I can tolerate that anymore. I do not want to spend my days in pain and sick like this. And aside from the initial 30 pound weight loss (gee, if anybody has several bouts of diarrhea a day and is so sick at their stomach they do not want to eat at all they will lose weight!) and a couple periods here and there, it is not doing a thing for me. My insulin levels are still higher than they should be. I hope I have better luck on avandia because metformin is not the answer here.
