Avandia Instead of Met?

I have been on Met since Oct. 1999. I have had 4 periods since then, have lost NO weight, and the hair on my chin is still growing out of control. I even tried the max. dose of 2550 mg/day - I was so sick every day - I even started vomitting! Needless to say, I am off of the stuff, and not anxious to go back to it. I am very upset because I drove 4 hours away to see a doctor that I really hoped would help, and he has more or less told me that Met is it, and if I can't tolerate it, I should go back to my family doctor and see if I can talk him into giving me 8mg of Avandia a day. I feel like he is dumping me - again no help. I am at a loss. I have a huge doctor bill from him and nothing. Sorry to vent, but I know that all of you out there know exactly what I am feeling! So, here's my question: Should I try Avandia? I have read on the board that there are some of you trying it, but I haven't seen where anyone has had results with it. I am looking to straighten out my periods, lose about 30 lbs., and slow the hair growth. That's it! But I don't want to spend every day sick as a dog, or looking for a bathroom every time I leave the house. Let me know if there are any Avandia success stories. Also, are there any side effects? Thanks so much for being there and helping me to feel that I am not alone. Kathy
