B/C pills..very frustrated!!!!!From: Allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Jun 2000 15:45:59 -0500 (CDT)
Anyone's info. on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm very frustrated with this! My GYN diagnosed me with PCOS about 6mos ago. He wanted to put me on birth control from the get go. I was very reluctant because I had been on a different form of birth control before I was diagnosed & had tons of problems while on it. Such as a lot of weight gain (50+lbs), bad mood swings, severe acne the whole nine yards. Later decided to try orto-tri cyclen because he said that was to "lowest dose" there is. So, I did & sure enough weight gain, bad mood swings etc. I put up with that for about 2mos. I went back to my GYN. He then put me on ortho cyclen. No mood swings but acne, weight gain & seems to have made my facial hair grow even more. I'm already going to electrolsis once a week. I really don't think I need to go any more than that! My biggest problem is the acne. I just got done with 6mos if Accutane treatment to finally clear up my face. I don't know if anyone has been on Accutane but it is a tough treatment. All of a sudden when I start taking this ortho cyclen my face starts getting bad again. I called my dermatologist & he told me it was probably because of the birth control pills. I have yet another appt. with my GYN next week to see what we can do if anything. Is there anything out there that can help with my symptoms with out causing me to gain even more weight than I already have & cause my face to break out after I worked so hard to finally get it cleared up & not make me cry at the drop of a hat with mood swings & have to go to the electrogist more than I already am? I am so frustrated right now! Last time I went to my GYN he told me we may just have to try several different birth control pills to see which works best for me. It seems to me that I'm just not responding to this form of treatment at all! Is there light at the end of the tunnel?
