Dear Jordan,

Yes, you can take bcp's and Met at the same time. And, yes bcp's can cause weight gain - but the statistics are like 2-3 pounds, not significant gain. If you are gaining, something else is going on - I believed mine was due to bcps, but it was really untreated PCOS.

About taking the Met - taking it with meals reduces the upset stomach you can get as a side effect. And, yes, your meals should be evenly spaced in order to not take the Met doses too close. So, if you eat infrequently, just have a snack at the right time and take your pill. I took my pills at around breakfast (at 8AM) and after dinner (about 8PM) - being off an hour or so isn't a big deal.

Feel free to email me if you'd like more info - mscheel@houston.rr.com

Sincerely, Maggie
