Re: Hair HelpFrom: Vena (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 21 Jun 2000 15:36:17 PDT
Hi Judy. I began experiencing male-pattern balding several years ago, when I was about 35. It became very noticable and I was SO embarrassed. That is actually what prompted me to go to my doctor and that was when i was diagnosed. The treatments I have used included Loestrin (birth control pill), spironolactone, Minoxidil (2 times daily), and Nioxin hair products. I am now 39 and my hair loss is not noticeable unless you part my hair down the middle, and even then its barely noticeable. I am not on the Loestrin or spironolactone now because I am TTC, but i am still using the topical Minoxidil and the Nioxin and my hair is in great condition. I just started glucophage, and am anxious to see how my body reacts. Best wishes and I REALLY, REALLY understand where you are at with this. Remember that beauty comes in many shapes and forms. I always try to remember the part in "The Truth about Cats and Dogs" where the lead male role says something like: "You know how it is....when you love someone they become the most beautiful person in the world to you, and you can know someone who is considered beautiful, but because of how they treat others, their beauty is tarnished." (Loosely translated.) The point being, your character and how you relate with others is the key to beauty. The Native Americans had a saying..." Walk in beauty." I like to think that choosing the path of beauty is again, about being beautiful on the inside, as well as doing all I can to be beautiful on the outside. If someone is so superficial to only see the outside, that is THEIR problem...not yours!
