meds for pcos after gastric bypass surgery? From: Lise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 Jun 2000 21:13:50 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I'm 31 years old, and have struggled with PCOS for about 16 years now. After many failed diet attempts(which I blame on PCOS), I had gastric bypass surgery (Roux-en-y) on June 7th, 2000. I am doing well, and FINALLY losing weight. Before surgery, I was taking Glucophage, my remaining Rezulin, Aldactone, Desogen, and Aldactazide. Now, I am only on Desogen. My surgeon does not feel I need the other meds now post-op. My endocrineologist thinks I should be on something for hyperinsulinemia/PCOS still. I really don't think I could tolerate another glucose tolerance test (with insulin levels) this soon after surgery. As a Registered Nurse, I really would appreciate other physicians' opinions. Thank you for your time.
