Re: diagnosing hyperinsulinemiaFrom: Lori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 13 Jun 2000 11:11:24 -0500 (CDT)
I need to know if a fasting blood sugar is conclusive for hyperinsulinemia. I have been diagnosed with PCOD through laparoscopy and have all of the symptoms of the 'syndrome' except hirsuitism. My doctor will not prescribe metformin until there is conclusive evidence of the need for the medication. My main concern is weight gain right now, but I suffer from chronic yeast infections and beleive that there is a link between my symptoms and insulin resistance. Im having a complete hysterectomy next month, but this wont cure the underlying cause or will it? Any info would be appreciated.
