It is now believed that metformin treats the root cause of PCOS while the pill just masks the symptoms. Met. will balance your insulin and should result in keeping your PCOS symtoms from forming. While the pill artifically controls your hormones and so can keep some the pcos symptoms at bay. You can certainly take both the pill and metformin and really try to stop pcos in its tracks. Many women do this. With both met and bcp your best chance to lose weight is by a low carb diet. This usually has tremendous positive effects on pcos. You can also try taking perscription aldactone, which can have great effects on your hair by reducing the testosterone in your body.
