Re: Anyone postmenaposal and dx with PCOSFrom: Christy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 9 Jun 2000 12:17:03 -0500 (CDT)
I was recently diagnosed with pcos a few months ago at 28, but my symptoms started when I was about 16. It turns out that my mother also has had the symptoms since puberty. She recalls her mother always "plucking" at her facial hairs. So, who knows how far back it goes. My mother is post-menapausal, but has not had a hystrectomy. One of her more devastating symptoms has been depression. She has been dealing with it since puberty. I am concerned that most people say that Metformin brings on fatigue, because that is the one symptom that my mother and I have a hard time with. We have found that if we excercise every day are symptoms subside, even the hair growth! But I still need more help. I might try the anti andogen. I think it's too bad that most studies center around menstruating women, because there are so many post-menapausal women out there that also need help.
