Metformin,trying to get pregnantFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 Jun 2000 12:47:52 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I am 27 years old and have had PCOS since puberty. I started Metformin (500mgX3) in February. I was happy to get my period in April and May even though I was taking my medication sporadically because of the gastro-intestinal upset. After reading some of your postings about how to reduce the side effects I have committed to not missing any doses. I am keeping my fingers crossed for June, when I'd like to use an ovulation kit to find out if I am actually ovulating! This month my husband and I have agreed to make a serious effort to try to get pregnant (to do as much as within power, ie. taking my medication, finding out when I'm ovulating and mating like rabbits during that right time!! etc etc). I would like to share experiences with someone who got pregnant on metformin as the sole medication. How long did it take? My doctor says to try for 3 months and if it doesn't work, to try Clomid as well. Feel free to e-mail me if you like. Thanks, Amanda
