direction on anti-androgen rx

I am 30yrs old and have been dx w/pcos over a year. I was hoping by this time I would have been prescribed meds that would reduce the most noticeable symptoms of my illness.

Here in Tampa there seems to be little concern for my torture and embarrassment. Today I have just had my annual checkup with an authorization on consulting with the doctor for treatmnt on pcos. His reply was that the only thing for it was contraceptives, and electrolysis for facial hair.

I am also taking anti depressants partly due to this disease and also being diagnosed w/social anxiety disorder. I must say after the doctor informed me of my options I wanted to cry right there.

I am overweight and have tried everything to lose to no avail. I have overpowering cravings for carbs. Facial hair is not my only hair problem. If I could dip into a pool of hair removing agent I would be a happy woman. I do however count my blessings, I don't have side-burns nor a full beard. But the smatter of course chin hair is enough.

I am just frustrated that the very doctors I look up to could blink so dumbly in the face of this disease. I bet if they had to live one day in my shoes they would be prescribing themselves every med on the market to get them back to normal.

If there is anyone who could help me, I would much appreciate the info.
