Hi everyone!!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago. I lost all hope it seemed to ever have children. I did research then, on my own, to try to find an alternative to birth control to help my situation. The diets I have tried were ok, lost a few pounds here and there, but never anything drastic. I just learned of all of the new advances that have been made, and the new *links* they have found to this being a metabolic disorder. I have done no treatment at all in the past 3 years...my endocrinologist at the time, felt it was only important to check my vitals and hair growth, but wanted me to watch every single thing I put in my body. As we all know, that is not going to help!!! I took my self off BC and tried some holistic things to help. The holsitic things helped regulate cycle, but not with weight loss and not sure it did anything else either. Now after hearing of metformin and avandia, I have new hope. After reading some of the posts, I am a bit confused as to why these drugs are prescribed. Is it primarily to induce ovulation, or to control the insulin resistance or to lose weight? Or is it a combination of all of these? I am beginning my search, (and will check on this site) for a RE to go to. Just was wondering, incidentally....have any of you had Mononucleiosis??? I am wondering if that has any connection to how we get it.

Be well and good luck everyone!
