Re: Have PCOS But Doc Won't Prescribe MetforminFrom: Theresa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 May 2000 23:57:59 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Samantha, I haven't been diagnosed YET, but have my 2nd appt with my RE on June 5. I am armed and ready!! As for your situation, I would definitely find a 2nd, 3rd even 15th opinion!! The first fertility dr. I went to did a few tests, but basically refused to do any more testing until I lost at least 100 lbs. That was 3 years ago, and now that I know what I do, I am scared to death to think I may have had this 3 yrs. ago, and couldn't be, or worse yet, WOULDN'T be, diagnosed just because of my weight. Now, I have high blood pressure, my thyroid is starting to quit, and my insulin levels are rising...all side effects of PCOS. Ask your PCP if he/she knows of any RE's in your area; call some regular endocrinologists, and see if they can recommend someone. My RE is listed in my insurance book as an endocrinologist...I wouldn't have known she was an RE if I hadn't called her office. I was told by another "cyster" to be a squeaky wheel...eventually you'll get some grease. Best of luck to you...you're all in my prayers. ~@theresa@~ At Thu, 25 May 2000, Samantha wrote: > >I am so upset I have been crying for days.
