Re: Fertility Med SurveyFrom: Cynthia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 15 May 2000 20:03:16 -0700
I was very lucky. My husband and I had used the pill on and off for eight years, having a lot of unprotected sex during those years and never getting pregnant. When we finally decided we wanted kids, I approached my doctor and let him know that I felt I wasn't ovulating regularly since I wasn't having periods (didn't know about PCOS at the time). He had me have a hystasalpenogram (I'm sure its spelled differently, but I know I spelled it the way it sounds) where they shoot dye into your uterus, and then run a scan it to make sure everything is structurally okay and not blocked. It was kind of cool, on the screen I saw my uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. When he saw that everything was okay, then he put me on provera to induce a period, and then clomid, and I immediately got pregnant, first time out. Two and one-half years later I had the same experience with provera and clomid to get pregnant with my second child. Almost three years after my second child was born, I got pregnant "on my own", after taking the pill for two months and then stopping (because I lost the prescription - duh!!). When I had my third, I got my tubes tied. Good luck, I know it can be such a heart ache to go through fertility treatments.
