I have both PCOS and Type 2 diabetes. I am not a doctor but this is how mine explained it to me. My body does produce insulin but for some reason does not use it effectively. Most people with Type 2 diabetes have this problem (or so I have been told by my endocrinologist). It is all linked to insulin resistance which is common in women with PCOS.
