Re: Met and weight loss...possible without dieting?

Hi,

while I am taking Met, I can not say for sure that Met is responsible for my minute loss of a couple of pounds... Notwithstanding that, I CAN tell you that I know a couple of people, one a diabetic on Met and the other a cyster on Met, who HAVE lost weight on Met & their doctors attributed the weight loss to the Metformin. In fact, the diabetic had to be taken off Met because she could not stop losing weight while on it. (I should be so lucky to have that kind of reaction, I am thinking to myself).

Anyway, Met affects us all in varying degrees/ways. Some lose, some have lots of side effects, some have mild or no side effects.... sometimes it depends on the dosage that you are taking.

I have been on 500 and then 1000 Met for one month now and have noticed some changes. I have also had some of the delightful side effects (let's just say I don't stray too far from the bathrooms!) although that has been getting better. I have noticed a significant decrease in appetite and I feel that my clothes are getting looser. I have an appt with the doctor next Tuesday and will weigh in then to know for sure. However, I keep promising myself I will get back on Atkins or try the Carb Addicts, but I haven't done it yet. I know I will and can (did it for 6 months before without Met before my diagnosis and loved it) but haven't got the motivation yet.

Is it possible I am losing some weight with Met ALONE? I want to do the diet and will, but wanted to know if anyone else out there has experienced this.

Thanks in advance.
