Re: One more questionFrom: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Apr 2000 15:36:28 -0500 (CDT)
I have PCOS and I am not really looking to expand my family. My husband and I are both 38, and we have a boy and a girl, 13 and almost 10. I just saw a new doctor yesterday who is going to up my dose of Metformin to 2550 mg per day. They also instructed me in how to watch my carbohydrate intake. More protein and fats, and less sugar and carbs. I said less, not none! I am hoping that this will help. So far 1500 mg/day of Met. had not really done anything for me. I am basically trying to lose weight(I am at 206), have regular periods, and lose the facial hair. He did warn me that usually at this dosage, most women will begin ovulating, so if I am not looking to get pregnant, I should use barrier contreception. If you haven't already, find a good doctor who knows about PCOS, and talk with them about meds and diet. Good Luck! Kathy
