Dr. Glueck's information is accurate, and my RE has told us that they are routinely using Met during pgs in Europe with NO complications and problems (in Type II Diabetic moms). The FDA also consistently uses trials in Europe as their own private "guinea pig," and they are currently considering expanding use for pg. There is little to no concern for birth defects with Met, and in fact, the evidence suggests that PCO women who conceive and go off (hence their insulin levels go haywire again) have a greater risk of miscarriage than those who stay on it. My best advice is to look in to this further. If you are near a medical library at a university, see if you can't do some journal-studies about the trials in Europe. Ultimately, you need to be comfortable with your decision. I've already made mine, and I'm not going to risk yet another miscarriage by discontinuing Met when we conceive again. The ones I've had have been bad enough, and I don't want to go through THAT again. Good luck!
