Re: just started metformin--My suggestionFrom: Micha (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 21 Apr 2000 12:15:28 -0500 (CDT)
I suggest you go much much more slowly just like I have. Break the 500mg tablet up into several pieces and take each piece with a meal. Do this every other day. Then if you feel ok, try it every day. Keep breaking the tabs, and increasing really slowly. If it takes a month before you can increase the dosage --that's okay, its better than going off of it. It has worked this way for many of us. Good luck to you, I bet it will work this way. > >-----Original Message----- >From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net >Behalf Of Avalos, Clara >Sent: Thursday, April 20, 2000 12:57 PM >To: Multiple recipients of list PCOS-MEDICATION >Subject: Re: just started metformin > >Metformin can cause a wide range of side effects, the most common of those >are gastrointestinal-related (like upset stomach, flatulence, diarrhea), and >supposedly they go away once the patient has been taking Met for a while. > >However, a small percentage of people have severe reactions to Met and can >not take it.
