Re: just started metforminFrom: Avalos (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Apr 2000 13:49:49 -0500
Amy: I have heard things from lots of people about Met's side effects. I was prepared to have bad ones, and to my surprise, I have not had anything to inconvenience me or make me uncomfortable. I told my doctor this, and he said that I just lucked out. We had started my dosage at 500 mg per day, first week, to increase to 1000 mg for the second week and then 1500 mg for the third week... Since I had no side effects, he just ramped right up, and I am now taking 2000 mg per day, my period started the third day after I started taking Met (had not had one in months). Today I also noticed that the hair that I shaved off of my chin yesterday has not yet grown back... It is the first time in thirteen years that I have woken up without feeling prickly hairs on my face! (I have been taking Spironolactone since 2/10/00)..... I can not begin to describe how I feel inside! Anyway, back onto the subject... Take the Met exactly as your doctor instructed and be sure to keep her informed, especially if you get bad or severe side effects, or if your period starts.... You GO GIRL! << smile >> -----Original Message----- From: Amy Crowe [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net Sent: Thursday, April 20, 2000 2:31 PM To: Multiple recipients of list PCOS-MEDICATION Subject: Re: just started metformin What have been your side effects?
