How long do you give Met a chance?From: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 2 Apr 2000 21:01:40 -0500 (CDT)
I have been on Met now since Oct. 99, and I don't feel like it is working. I am up to 1500 mg. per day. I am still not having regular periods, the facial hair has slowed, but not much, and I have not lost ANY weight - in fact I have gained 12 pounds! I feel like I should up the dose again, but how high can you go? I am working with a doctor who has little knowledge of PCOS. I e-mailed Dr. Glueck at the Cincinnati Jewish Hospital who is responsible for major studies on the insulin/PCOS connection, and he e-mailed back that I should try the max. dose of 850 mg. 3 times a day. Has anyone out there been on big of a dosage? I don't seem to suffer from side effects, only the first couple of days on a higher dose, then it goes away. Please let me know!! Thanks!
