Been on glucophage for one monthFrom: Heidi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 24 Mar 2000 21:16:08 -0600 (CST)
I have been using Met for a little over a month now. I started the first two weeks at 500 mg and then moved up until very recently to 1000 mg. I tried earlier to go to 1500 mg, but had stomach problems and went back to 1000 mg. I am just now going back up to 1500 mg and have a lot less problems. The main side effect at the lower levels has been gas. I have tried to start eating better and currently only exercise two times a week in my mid east dance class. Yesterday, I started to walk as well and hope I will continue to do this. As for improvements, I still haven't seen any but since it is only one month and I am still on a pretty low dose especially since I am pretty tall and heavy. My ratio of glucose to insulin is also about 2 to 1. I am still craving sugar, but hope this too will subside as I increase the dose. I am planning to go to Egypt for two and a half weeks starting Tuesday, so I probably will not increase the medicine during that time so I won't get sick to my stomach (there is already a risk of that anyway in Egypt). I know it will be a slow road, but so far at least I haven't had too many problems.
