Hi there, this is only my second post so we can wade through this together. I never had an ovarian drilling. Although I had been diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18, when it came time to get pregnant I went through 3 years and at least 10 tries of Clomid. Now I'm finding it doesn't usually work for PCOS women. Also tried IUI (artificial insemination) in case my whatever wasn't conducive to my husband's sperm. Nothing.

At the time, IVF was under our insurance so I went straight to IVF. The shots of hormones you take worked well enough. They only got 8 eggs out of me, and of those only 3 fertilized and then of those only 2 grew. But BOTH took. I now have twin 3 year olds. Only took one try. Thank goodness I only had 2 viable embryos to implant ;-).

So what's my point? Depending on costs, you could go with the next level of hormone treatment rather than surgery. I swear I've read somewhere that PCOS women don't respond well to Clomid but do to the next level (is it GrH??). Anyways, you can probably search around the Net and form your own stats on which works better, is less traumatic, costs etc. Sorry I don't have a definitive source! Trudy
