Alexis,

It sounds like most of us do lose weight with just adding on the Metformin to our regimen, but I think it only takes care of a small amount for the first month or so of taking the Met. I lost about twenty pounds in a little over two months. I have not lost much since. The Met is supposed to lessen our appetite, thus the weight loss. Met has NOT had that effect on me, unfortunately. Most of the others who have commented on their weight loss sound to me like they are more strict with their low carb plan than I am (Shame on me!) and they work out with a regular exercise program (Again, shame on me!). My endo thought I would have lost more than I did, but was pleased with what I did lose. Hope this helps.
