Re: EDUCATIONFrom: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Mar 2000 09:30:33 -0600 (CST)
Thank you for your message! I, too, went online to educate myself about PCOS. My GYN suggested that I find an internal medicine specilist to treat my PCOS. So, I took everything I had to a woman doctor (hoping she would understand better than a man), and she had never heard of PCOS!! But, she was willing to do the research, and so after taking a look at what I had, and doing some research of her own, she started me on Metformin. I have worked myself up since Oct. from 500 mg daily to 1500 mg daily. I am still skeptical that this will work for me. I only have a period when my dosage is upped. My facial hair has slowed slightly, and I have gained 12 lbs. since Oct. I will keep on it for another 3 months, and probably go to 2000 mg. I seem to tolerated it well - only slight side effects. Any advice? At Wed, 15 Mar 2000, TracyP wrote: > >I want to tell every woman that reads this forum..The best thing you can >do is EDUCATE yourself on the Use of Metformin (Glucophage).
