Continuous spotting with Diane-35From: Sushmita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 22 Mar 2000 07:30:28 -0600 (CST)
I am 25 years old, and just diagnosed as having PCOS a month back. After being period-free for the previous 6 months, my gynae induced a bleed with Provera (medroxyprogesterone) 5mg; she has since started me on Diane-35. However, this is where my problem begins. After the induced bleed (which was almost like a normal menstrual flow), my bleeding did not stop after a week. I have been taking my Diane tablets religiously, and yet, three weeks after the first bleed, I am still spotting. Granted, the flow is not copious; what is disconcerting is the accompanying predominantly brownish discharge, with stringy clots. The gynae brusquely told me that I should have told her of the spotting earlier, and that I was to continue onto the second pack of Diane anyway and to get back to her later. Stopping short of a second opinion (which I AM going to get), I'd like to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience (no, not the gynae-from-hell anecdotes!!)---it would certainly make me sleep easier.
