One of the side effects of metformin is that it can suppress hunger. It is not a weight loss medication and should not be thought of as such.

As a diabetic cyster, I find that met makes me crave fewer sweets, it suppresses my appetite and that I tend to want to drink more water (both of which I consider to be benefits).
