Re: Metaformin WITH Birth control pillsFrom: Anon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Mar 2000 08:07:15 -0600 (CST)
Some of us take Metformin (in varying doses), spironolactone (also, in varying doses) and bcp. We have individual success rates with these. I personally am on all three and have been for 10 months. I have had my skin look better and my hair has become lighter and finer in places. It has only slightly lessened the hirsutism though. My body handles these meds fairly well. I continue to take them because it might prevent me from becoming a diabetic in the future. Diabetes does not run in my family and I am the ONLY ONE with the hirsutism, too. The doctors really wonder about me and the heredity connection. They think that perhaps the combination of my parents is where the condition began. It is all conjecture. I have no sisters, but have a prematurely balding brother. I think he may have Syndrome X, but he has not been diagnosed with it.
