Hi Donna, I am currently on Metformin as treatment for my pcos. I am not insulin resistant. Glucophage will not take (or is supposed to not)take your insulin levels or your glucose levels beyond normal levels. It is great that you are on a low carb plan (I hate the word Diet).I have been on low carb since the first of the year and I started Met (glucophage) on January 13th. I started out on 500mgs/day and then upped my dose 500mgs a week and now I am on 2500mgs a day. That is where I will stay for now until doc tells me otherwise. I have lost a total of 20 pounds since Metformin, energy levels are up and I actually feel like exercising now!!! Depression is going away as I get more active. Acne is gone completely, and facial hair is thinning (using other stuff for that also). I hope this helped a bit.. There are lots of women that are not insulin resistant and using Met!!! Good Luck and God Bless, TracyP
