I can't help you with the fertility problems as I"m only 19 and am
trying NOT to get pregnant, but here's what I know about the meds:
metformin is the generic form of glucophage
glucophage xr is the brand name of glucophage and is coincidently tiem
release- none of the other metformin/glucophages are time release
my expirience:
I started on the generic metformin which is also refered to as
glucophage even when it's not brand name. I had bad stomach cramps,
irregular bowel movements, mood swings.. it was bad. Two months later
I told my doctor I couldn't stand it anymore and he put me on Glucophage
XR. It made a world of difference. Everything came into place, I felt
good, I los tweight without effort, etc.
Some people I guess are very sensitive to WHEN the medicine (metformin)
is taken, so it causes lots of irregularites..the XR time release and
taking it only once a day helped a ton with me..the downside is that
it's more expensive since it's brand name and some insurances won't
cover it but most will accept a petition to cover it at a normal copay
rate--just takes some extra work.
Good luck
