Ketosis is not particularly dangerous unless you are a type I diabetic. Persons with type 2 diabetes do not have this issue because they still produce some of their own insulin. A type I has no insulin production left due to the destruction of the pancreatic beta cells. In this case, the body cannot burn glucose at all (insulin is the key that unlocks the cell for glucose to be used by the body) and as a result they begin to burn muscle mass (protein) and can go into dibetic ketosis or acidosis. So, for the most part, ketosis is not a bit concern unless you have type 1, insulin dependant diabetes
