Hi. Elizabeth, Could you send me the weight loss program as well? My email is: dgravitt@altamaha.net I am having trouble losing weight because of PCOS. I was diagnosed with this in 1996 but think I have had it since at least 1986. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Denise

I would be grateful to know what has worked for you. I would like to see if I can get anything new out of it. I have a nearly identical situation, at 22 I was 5'6" (sturdy bone structure) and weighing in at 150. Believe me I looked great. Already started having the the facial hair problem and lack of mense cycle. After exhausted tests and getting a final "Hormonal Imbalance" diagnosis a year later I started gaining weight with the Hormone therapy. I quit the therapy when I topped the scales at nearly 200. I knew something more was wrong but it took another 10 years (60 more pounds) and a Women doctor to agree. By then my both ovaries are crystalized and I can't have children. I shave daily now. I will be having a hysterectomy once I can get to my goal weight. In 6 months I have shed 40 lbs thanks to medication, Lactose intolerance (newly discovered) and increased exercise. I pretended I was Diabetic so as to avoid becoming one. The lose is plateauing for longer each time which can be very frustrating. I only have 60 more to lose so I can have the surgery and balance the hormones being released erraticly in my system. I have started peri-menopause at the age of 33 and take high dose progesterone to force my cycle so I don't develope Endometirosis or Uterine cancer. I'm off the medication that made it all so easy with no appetite and use old fashioned will power. Just trying to shed some of that excess Estrogen ruining my blood sugar balance. Please send your plan my way. I see if it can ad to what I've done. I keep trying to find the PCOS Diet book but its never available up here. Very frustrating. Any help would be great thanks in advance Elizabeth Dee

Hi!

My name is Linda and I was diagnosed with PCOS last summer (at age 22)....its almost been a year since. I was also very thin although I am shorter ( 5 Feet tall weighed 100 lbs) Now I weigh 130 lbs and I exercise 4 days a week and I cannot shed even ONE pound...or loose ANY inches!!! I would love it if you can help me out....I feel so unhealthy. I feel like its useless to exercise but I do it anyway because I have been athletic all my life and for fear that I may gain more weight. I now have to deal with the fact that this will be an issue for the rest of my life and I despratley want to feel like my little old self again. Please help me...I am VERY intereseted in the program that has helped you! Thank you so much!

-Linda

If you are talking about the Bernstein Diet Clinic that are in Canada (Ontario and British Columbia...http://www.drbdiet.com)then I am very happy to tell you that you made the right decision about only doing this diet for short periods of time.

I am a previous nurse of Dr. Bernsteins and I would NEVER do this diet. It is the most dangerous diet I have ever heard of. It makes you "feel" safe by saying that you are medically supervised.

I personally stay 10 months working for him because I liked the pay cheque. I now work at a different Doctors office where the Canada's Food Guide, healthy eating choices and Exercise are the preferred means of weight loss. We get a lot of previous patients of the Bernsteins Diet...mostly people who have tripled their weight in the year following the "diet" and are now seeking the slow and steady route because of kidney and liver problems that resulted in such a "diet".

I may be making nearly half of the income of what I was making at Bernsteins but at least I can sleep at night.

Thanks
