As far as I have read it has no effect on insulin or glucose (which is what metformin does). So women use it to help with those symptoms that are related to high testosterone, such as excessive body and facial hair(hirsutism), acne, and hairloss. The recommended dose is 160 mg twice daily total is 320 mg. The bottle should say saw palmetto berries EXTRACT, 85-95% sterols. To see the effects you have to wait at least 3 months in most cases, natural takes time, but it works. Hope this helps!
