Hi jo, I am from the uk, and have had pcos for over 12 years now. im also a nurse, qualified in manchester. Anyway you can get some GP's or specialists to prescribe metformin (youve probably read about it on the messages) which may or may not work for you. Also they recommend spironolactone and the pill (im on all three at the moment)

I had to go to America for my metformin originally (but was on holiday there anyway) that was back in jan 2001. The met worked for about 6 months and then the symptoms came back and ever since then ive had the usual problems. Although this isnt always the case and some people find that metformin works really well for them so its worth a go. Im also on a low carb diet and do loads and loads of exercise.

If you want any contacts for docs in the uk just let me know,

Louise
