Hi Jo! i am a medical student and have just been diagnosed with PCOS. i have spent the last year tryin to get my GP to believe me because I and everyone but my GP with some medical knowledge had diagnosed me. Eventually my GP gave in and gave me a gynae referral, which is what i think you need. As soon as the gynae consultant heard my story she said it was PCOS. As for treatment, she told me that if I was happy to accept my symptoms, there would be no need for any medication but to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating healthily and exercising regularly.
