Re: Anyone dealing with PCOS successfully?

I am a 32 y/o who was diagnosed with PCOS about 8 years ago. I have took Rezulin, Glucophage, Birth Control and additional hormones so long I can't remember not taking them. Last year I found a Doctor in my area who has been trully wonderful. I was so nice not to be told you will just have to live with the pain, because I don't know what else to do for you. This new Doctor believes that not only do I have PCOS but endometriosis in addition which is uncommon. Because I am so overweight due in part to PCOS he put me on Lupron shots for 6 months last year. That was the MOST wonderful pain free time I had in more than 15 years. While taking the shots I joined a water aerobics class and changed my diet. I ate a low calorie diet. While sticking to the Food Pyramid as much as possible. I ate lots of fruit and raw veggies. I included at least 1 orange per day. I lost 35 pounds in 2 months. Looked great, felt great and was really excited over the success. However, once I came off the shots the pain has returned increasing in intensity and the weight loss has virtually stopped. Even though I am doing the same exact things, I have only lost 5 pounds in 6 weeks. Although that is a feat, it just seems depressing compared to before. The Doctor and I are trying some different avenues.

Please do not lose faith. Find a doctor specializing in fertility medicine and one that really listens and is concerned about you. Is willing to help find you a treatment that works for you. I have found one and it has made a dramatic difference in my life.
