Re: How Many carbs per day? any ideasFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 19 Feb 2003 20:13:37 EST
Complex carbs are whole grains. Make sure you read labels and stay away from things that say "refined", etc. A good rule of thumb is if you cannot pronounce it, don't eat it (obviously there are exceptions) Look for pastas, breads and cereals that are made of Brown Rice, Quinoa, Kamut, Spelt, and Amaranth. Experiment a bit to see how your body reacts to these grains and if you have no success with one, try another. I personally have to stay away from wheat, even whole grain wheat, but I can eat blue corn products and lose weight. Everyone is different. You can get these whole grain products at health food stores in the cooler section. Another word of advice: Many women who have PCOS also have allergies to yeast. Try to find some yeast free breads, they're also at health food stores. Good luck :) if you have any questions you can email me Powte88@aol.com
